Evan's Creek Off Road 4wheeling Trip

Some quick ground rules for all Gitout.com events:  ensure your vehicle is in safe, reliable condition; no drinking or drugs on the trail; responsible care and respect for others. We don’t have any minimum vehicle requirements; I recommend good traction tires and tools/recovery equipment.  The objective is to explore some great trails, enjoy fellowship and make new friends. Join us on the forum for additional details and to confirm attendance!

Evans Creek is definitely worth a day trip!  However, I heard some reports from local guys last week, and there is still a TON of snow up there right now.  Some seriously built rigs barely made it to the parking lot area where a couple of the trails start.  The 311 trail may be accessible, however it would be extremely difficult this time of year.  I would say that a winch, at least one locker(prefer two), and aggressive 33″ tires to be the minimum to try it right now.

good to know… I think with that i'm probably gonna back out.

also, on a side note, I think there should be some sort of minimum vehicle requirements for trips.  A honda accord won't do so well on the trails we go on. Shiner

These were taken about 3 weeks ago, and it has been snowing up there since then.  The Wranglers in the pictures are running 37's for reference.

Dang!  That's crazy… Shaking

Do you know how the snow level is for Reiter Pit?

Jason, you're right about having minimum vehicle requirements.  What do you think those should be?

Reiter trails should be fine.  A few friends were up there last weekend and said it was great.

I'm scheduled to start overtime that weekend, so I can't make it.  And my jeep is in lots and lots of small pieces.  It might be a good idea to search up some recent trail maps of the area.  A lot of things have changed over the years.  There are some really good trails there now, and some that will leave lots of scars on your truck, Like “Trail of Doom” and “BYS”.  But “Grumpy's” and “Rhinoland” are lots of fun.  A local group called Reiter Trail Watch has basically adopted the trails up there, and do a good job of keeping them in shape.  They also like to call the area Reiter trails instead of Reiter Pit, to make it sound a littlle betterMrGreen

HAHA MrGreen  Time to put the Jeep pieces back together.  Welder

I'm sure we'll find our way around.  I'll update the name to Reiter Trails (it does sound better) MrGreen

Great.  My brother Dan should be coming with his 4runner too…  I'm not too concerned with minimum vehicle requirements.  A lot has to do with driver skill.  And our primary objective is to have fun anyhow.  Cyclops

Is it going to be a snow run or will the snow be gone?  Are there bypasses for the really tough stuff?  Never been there before…..  How long of a drive is it to get there.  I might only be able to do the day trip and not overnight.

I was checking out recent trip pictures from another group to Reiter Trails.  I didn't see any snow.  I don't recall any really tough trails but maybe it's changed.

We're probably not going to stay the night either.  Just a long drive there and back.  I think it's around 3hrs from Portland IIRC.  You should definitely come!  Cool

I'm gonna pass on this trip.  Just too far for me to go for a day trip.  I'm saving my far away trip for the mcgrew trail!  Take lots of pictures!
